Ms. Melissa Chureau has been an attorney since 2002 and a Senior Assistant Attorney General with the State of Oregon since 2012, focusing on the prosecution of Medicaid fraud, financial exploitation, and abuse and neglect cases. She previously worked both in private practice for several years, representing various healthcare and other professionals, and as a prosecutor with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office where she prosecuted a variety of crimes, including violent crimes and complex fraud and property crimes. She has presented at various local, statewide and nationwide conferences, including most recently at the National Association of Medicaid Fraud Control Unit’s Annual Conference in Nebraska, Oregon’s statewide conference for the Office of Developmental Disabilities in Corvallis and at Oregon MFU’s Financial Abuse and Abuse and Neglect Group (FAANG) presentations to various Oregon counties’ elder abuse multi-disciplinary team meetings.
